Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the Edge Banding Material Matching Specialist is to ensure the accurate and efficient selection and matching of edge banding materials to the various furniture components throughout the production process. This includes but is not limited to:
Material Selection: Accurately selecting the appropriate edge banding materials (PVC, ABS, Melamine, Wood Veneer, etc.) based on customer orders, specifications, and available inventory. This requires a strong understanding of different material properties, including color, texture, and finish.
Color Matching: Precisely matching edge banding colors and textures to the core material of the furniture pieces. This often involves comparing samples under various lighting conditions and using specialized tools to ensure perfect color consistency.
Texture Matching: Identifying and selecting edge banding with similar textures to the core material, considering factors like wood grain, patterns, and finishes. This requires a well-trained eye and a deep understanding of different wood species and their characteristics.
Inventory Management: Participating in inventory control processes for edge banding materials, ensuring sufficient stock levels to meet production demands and minimizing waste. This includes accurate tracking of material usage and reporting any discrepancies.
Quality Control: Performing regular quality checks on selected materials to ensure they meet our stringent quality standards. This includes identifying and rejecting any defective or mismatched materials before they enter the production line.
Documentation: Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of material selections, including batch numbers, quantities, and relevant specifications. This is crucial for traceability and quality control purposes.
Problem Solving: Identifying and resolving any discrepancies or challenges related to material matching, collaborating with other team members to find efficient solutions.
Training and Development: Willingness to participate in training programs to stay updated on new materials, technologies, and best practices within the edge banding industry.
Communication: Effectively communicating with production team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and efficient material handling.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role within the furniture manufacturing industry, specifically in edge banding material selection and matching.
Deep understanding of various edge banding materials, including their properties, applications, and limitations.
Proven ability to accurately match colors and textures of edge banding to various substrates.
Excellent color vision and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Proficiency in reading and understanding technical drawings and specifications.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong communication skills (Mandarin and basic English preferred).
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Experience with inventory management systems is a plus.
